Quality Fresh Food
Straight From Morocco
Quality
Morocco is endowed with unique geographical and climate conditions, making it a bountiful agri-food and fisheries hub. Whatever the season or the region, Moroccans are invariably guaranteed access to fresh and healthy products.
Our mission to provide healthy, balanced, and delicious food echoes beyond our borders, landing Morocco internationally recognised AOC certifications (i.e. designations of origin known in French as “appellations d’origine contrôllées”). In a day and age when consumers are increasingly conscious about what they eat, the “Produced in Morocco” brand comes as a game-changing alternative that is in full compliance with EU standards:
Taste, energy value, flavour, and traceability
With its notable cultural diversity, passed down from one generation to another, coupled with the rich biodiversity of its ecosystems, Morocco has evolved into a veritable showcase of local products, many of which are endemic.
Cognizant of this potential, Morocco endeavours to enhance this diversity and to promote the quality of its products and local know-how by creating labels.
These labels constitute a legal framework that enables the preservation of the Kingdom’s gastronomic, artisanal, and cultural heritage, while giving our products exposure opportunities on the international markets, with assured protections against any form of usurpation at the national or international levels.
For this purpose, we distinguish between 3 labels of origin and quality.
This label recognises a set of specific qualities and characteristics that distinguish one product from other products of the same type and give it a higher value, mainly owing to its production and manufacturing conditions and, where applicable, to its geographical origin.
This name is used to designate a product as originating in a given land, region, or locality when the said product possesses a specific quality, reputation, or characteristic; when that quality, reputation, or characteristic can essentially be attributed to a specific geographical origin; and when the production, processing, and preparation take place exclusively in that geographical area.
AOC refers to a specific region, place, or country from which the product originates. Products from this geographical area have a quality, reputation, or other characteristics that are owed exclusively or essentially to the said geographical area. These features may include human or natural factors (endemic species), production and/or processing know-how, in addition to being based in that geographical area.
Quality under control
Technical inspection: Conducted per international standards to ensure that the existing infrastructures and their operators comply with international norms and good practice, this inspection is carried out through two activities intended to guarantee that the target countries’ requirements are met.
Physical and organoleptic control of products
Checks the conformity of products to commercial standards. This includes product quality, presentation, packaging, wrapping, labelling, and sizing.
Analytical
control
- • Physico-chemical analyses:
pesticide residues, chemical contaminants, fats, nutritional values - • Microbiological analyses:
microbiological research, hygiene of processing plants and units, water analysis, micro toxins, biological stability, etc. - • Packaging control analysis:
Physical testing (compression, traction, crimping), plus food-contact tests (Bisphenol A) - • Sensory analysis for certain products such as olive oil and table olives.”
